Steve Re: When it Rains, It Pours!
You do the math
In a 40-country study of 15-year-old students, the United States ranked 28th in mathematical aptitude and 18th in reading. The U.S. also had the poorest results per educational dollar, forcing researchers to conclude that “spending alone is not sufficient to achieve high levels of outcomes.” Despite their low rank, 72 percent of American students said they get good grades in math, the most of any nation surveyed. In Hong Kong, despite leading the industrialized world in mathematical aptitude, only 25 percent of students reported getting high marks, the fewest of any nation.
