A Racist Behind Every Rock

Lewis Diuguid, a Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist, writes the claim that McCain/Palin are using racist code words by implying that Barack Obama's policies are that of a socialist.
The "socialist" label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.
Mr. Diuguid cites the FBI investigations of M.L. King, W.E.B. DuBois, Paul Robeson, and A. Philip Randolph, civil rights leaders all, as proof of the racist intentions of using the label 'socialist.'

The realities of the investigations:

Martin Luther King; not a socialist, but the investigation was ok'd by A.G. Robert Kennedy, a Democrat.

W.E.B. DuBois; a member of the Communist Party USA.

Paul Robeson; a socialist, winner of 1952 Stalin Peace Prize, writer of glowing Stalin eulogy in 1953. Sugar Ray Robinson wanted to 'punch him in the mouth' if he ever saw him.

A. Philip Randolph; a socialist by the age of 21.

This facts do not diminish the work that these men did on behalf of civil rights. However, pointing out the truth of their socialistic philosophies need not be considered racist. They were what they were.

Senator Obama is what he is, as well; a socialist. But Obama is a socialist without ever having been 'down with the struggle.' He fights within an entirely different struggle; the anti-capitalistic struggle. That's the struggle of Bill Ayers, George Soros, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jong-il, and Fidel Castro. Spread the wealth around.

Are we sure Diuguid's a real person? That sounds like a fake name to me. I gotta look that guy up.
