Edward Moore Kennedy, 1932-2009

Long time Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy died yesterday of brain cancer. I wish to offer my condolences to his family and to those who loved him.

The man now stands before his Maker without the press or aides spinning the story of his life. (For the atheists: The man now is being prepared as food for worms.)

Since it may not be the appropriate time to speak of what I actually thought of the man, as many consider it bad form to speak ill of the dead, I will simply observe a moment of silence.

However, it is not bad form to speak ill of what those, his supporters and similar thinkers are saying, have said, or possibly might say in his memory. The Liberal Lion...

'...would still be alive if ObamaCare had been passed before the Congressional recess.'

'...would still be alive if the government had more regulation of distilleries.'

'...would still be alive if Gore and Kerry would not have had their elections stolen from them by George W. Bush, the Supreme Court, and cheater voting machines.'

'...would, if she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age...'1

'...the greatest senator of the 20th century.'1

'...sent shivers up my leg.'

'...his embrace of Obama was the passing of the torch to the last Kennedy brother.2'
