Had Ted Kennedy given a different response to a letter from a Packers head coach, it's possible Senator Ted Kennedy may have become Packers receiver Ted Kennedy. As head coach for the Green Bay Packers, Blackbourn managed only a 17-31-0 record from 1954-57 with no playoff appearances. He resigned at the end of the 1957 season after a disappointing 3-9-0 campaign.1
The senator's web site says that Kennedy, a senior right end for the Harvard football team in 1955, received a letter from Packers head coach Lisle Blackbourn.
The Packers dodged a bullet.
