Steve Re: Captions

#1. Grown in Iowa by people who know what corn is supposed to taste like.
#2. "Billy, you run an out. Joey, you run a post. Kerry, you cut left in front of the speeding Chevy."
#3. Now just which one is the tackling dummy again?
#4. Hmmm, here's an article about John Rocker. Things have sure changed since he was here.

Did you get the reference to the corn cob?

With your hints to Al, I would guess... Lombardi?
(Of Lambert Field fame, of course!)

Finally. John didn't get it. I even gave him the word football.

Lance, I don't know if your father ever told you this, but part of our family tree is rooted in Africa-- descendants of the Obtussi Tribe. Your statements often reveal this ancestry.

Hey, not my fault if you guys can't keep up.

I hardly consider that any of us aspire to 'keep up' at that level!

Today's local paper contained an article marking the 30 year anniversary of UW-Rock County Soccer. Remarking of the early, lean times one former coach said, "That first year it was like the old athletic story where the coach says, 'This is a soccer ball.'"

Somehow I seem to have been completely blocked from posting or even commenting using Blogger's tools, from last night until I tried again just now. One of my posts may seem odd if you don't understand that.

Anyway, I SAID, "Ah, I get it now. [Note date.] I've been in Minnesota too long. Listening to Denny Green for 10 years has rotted my brain."

Other comments are lost for good, I'm afraid.
