Signs of 'The Summer of Recovery'

President Obama has touted his economic policies as instrumental in leading to 'The Summer of Recovery.' When the spin doesn't quite stretch to cover the double-dip, Vice President Joe Biden touts the George Bush economic policies.

I'm not certain which economic indicators they use in their assessments, but I have some that I use to determine the state of the U.S. economy. As our church's financial secretary, I can follow the rise and fall of giving here.

One must take into account that our church is located in Janesville, WI where we have suffered some serious economic hits over the past few years. The decline and ultimate closing of our nearly 100 year presence of a large Chevy plant along with all the associated businesses that depended upon General Motors has skyrocketed county unemployment rates. One may suspect that that gifts to the church would also be plummeting. This, however, has not been the case.
