How the Wisconsin Badgers Will Win the NCAA Football Title

I am already celebrating the Wisconsin Badgers national Championship in football this season. After #5 Wisconsin defeats #3 TCU in the Rose Bowl, #13 Virginia Tech beats #4 Stanford in the Orange Bowl. #1 Auburn clobbers #2 Oregon in the BCS Championship to initially win the national championship. Auburn, however, is stripped of the title after quarterback Cam Newton is found to be in violation of NCAA rules. Wisconsin is named national champion.

Congratulations, Badgers!

Is Sal Alosi Related to Tommy Lewis?

Sal Alosi, New York Jets strength coach, was fined and suspended by the team for an incident that took place during Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. While standing on the sideline during a Jets punt, Alosi stuck out a knee and tripped Dolphin gunner Nolan Carroll who had been pushed out of bounds during the punt coverage.

Is Sal Alosi related to Alabama's Tommy Lewis?

There may be something in the genetics.

Family Notes- Some Highlights and Oddities

Have been spending a lot of time working to produce a DVD of our family tree. Of the photographs collected, many remain of unknown subjects and there are not many still living to put names to the faces.

I have also found out some interesting and odd things that have shaken out of the tree. My great-great-great grandfather Adam was killed by an avalanche in Switzerland. Now, anytime I have to shovel out of my driveway, it won't seem such a hardship.

My grandfather John was drafted for WWI, Uncles Dave and Fred were in the Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack. Cousin Ted was awarded the Silver Star in Viet Nam and I received orders for the same 'police action.'

My grandmother died in 1927 and my grandfather remarried in 1932. Reading the records closely shows that his second marriage was to his sister's daughter. What the?? Even further research proved that she was an adopted daughter. Phew!

And lastly, I have yet to discover the situation here:

Is this a manly girl or a girlie man? Was my family diverse before diversity was cool? No answers yet, but I'm still looking.

Packers Play in Throwback Uniforms

The Green Bay Packers, clad in 1920's style throwback uniforms, played the San Francisco 49ers this afternoon at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. What could be more manly than playing football in leather helmets and galoshes?

The Packers beat the 49ers 34-16.

Aaron Rodgers fades back to pass for one of his 3 touchdown passes.

Mom!! The Mind Numbed Robot is Picking on Al Gore Again!

Mind Numbed Robot produces an excellent Demotivational tease of Al Gore, Anthropogenic Global Warming, and the T.S.A. in one poke.

He does indeed deserve a grant from the Smithsonian and to have his high art displayed there.

As with all great ideas, the Robot inspires apers and copy cats:

Grandpa John's Family Tree...

...Complete with Roots

This blog began on June 8th, 2004 with a short introductory post by Grandpa John:

(Photo circa 1966.)

Before that there was Great Grandpa John:

Before that there was Great Great Grandpa John and Great Great Great Grandpa Johannes:

(John standing in center; Johannes seated, 2nd from right.)

Before that there was Adam, Jakob, Sebastian, Fridolin (Frodo), Sebastian, Gallus, and Sebastian.

Before all of those there was Troghannnes (John in Troglodytic):

Troghannes was famous for his cave paintings and rock etching of political commentary and snark. He was 5'2", very tall for his clan.
