What's Good for the Goose...

Would I ever like to see the U.S. Congress, Federal policy makers, state legislatures, and Presidential candidates subject their proposals to some variation of an Environmental Impact Assessment.
“Environmental Impact Assessment can be defined as: The process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and mitigating the biophysical, social, and other relevant effects of development proposals prior to major decisions being taken and commitments made.”1
It would be nice to have such proposals go through one tenth of the rigor that a new drug must endure to receive the blessing of the FDA.

Do we have any data for study of The War on Poverty? The government's education system? Any information on other nations' forays into universal health care? Increased centralized power?

Would Michael Jordan have been successful with a 300 pound gorilla on his back? Can a citizen of Zimbabwe succeed with Robert Mugabe reaching in his pocket?

Perhaps the data is inconclusive.
